In recent years, there have been efforts made by nature conservation organizations, municipalities and the state government against climbing in nature. Some climbing areas have been closed and in the Odenwald there have often been talks of closing individual climbing areas.

It is therefore incredibly important that you all follow the rules in the climbing areas (even if they sometimes seem pointless). This is especially true for the access to the Schriesheim quarry. Every time someone does not use the via ferratas and illegally climbs to the higher levels via hiking trails, this is another argument for conservationists who want to close the quarry permanently. This also makes our work in negotiating contract extensions more and more difficult.

If this situation does not change soon, the quarry may soon be closed permanently!!!
